Jay Severin is a right-wing talk show host in Boston. He was suspended on April 30th for, among other things, referring to Mexican females as "women with mustaches and VD".
He had more to say about Mexicans:
Isn't that cute? He made a new word: crimaliens. They are aliens...but also criminals. How funny!
And, you know, ignorant and racist.
So, he thinks all Mexicans are "leeches", "primitives", "crimaliens" and he seriously suggested that all Muslims should be killed...and conservative don't think their rhetoric is hateful and damaging?
At least Severin was suspended for his words. Other commentators continue the hate.
Not only have right-wing commentators latched onto the swine flu scare as a way to promote fear and racism, but they are injecting paranoid conspiracy theories into their tirades, too.
Michael Savage proposed the idea that Islamic scientists created a lethal virus and leaked it into America via Mexico:
Neal Boortz agreed that the flu might be bioterrorism:
Of course, this is the same guy who suggested that swine flu should be renamed "fajita flu".
The possible pandemic of swine flu is a serious matter. It shouldn't be used as an excuse to push irrational fear and hate towards a group of people. You would think these guys would see the writing on the wall when a mere 21% of Americans consider themselves Republican.
He had more to say about Mexicans:
“When we are the magnet for primitives around the world -- and it’s not the primitives’ fault by the way, I’m not blaming them for being primitives -- I’m merely observing they’re primitive...It's millions of leeches from a primitive country come here to leech off you and, with it, they are ruining the schools, the hospitals, and a lot of life in America...We should be, if anything, surprised that Mexico has not visited upon us poxes of more various and serious types already, considering the number of crimaliens already here."

It’s not the first time Severin has faced criticism for derogatory comments about minorities on his weekday program. On a 2004 broadcast, he compared US Muslims to a fifth column, and when a caller suggested the United States should befriend Muslims, Severin responded: "You think we should befriend them; I think we should kill them."

Michael Savage proposed the idea that Islamic scientists created a lethal virus and leaked it into America via Mexico:
I'm going to talk about the horrible, horrible story of illegal aliens bringing a deadly new flu strain into the United States of America. Make no mistake about it: Illegal aliens are the carriers of the new strain of human-swine avian flu from Mexico….
Could our dear friends in the radical Islamic countries have concocted this virus and planted it in Mexico knowing that you, Janet Napolitano, would do nothing to stop the flow of human traffic from Mexico? And they are a perfect mule—perfect mules for bringing this virus into America.
Neal Boortz agreed that the flu might be bioterrorism:
"What better way to sneak a virus into this country than to give it to Mexicans....then spread a rumor there there are construction jobs here, and there they come," blathers Boortz.

"...should be, if anything, surprised that Mexico has not visited upon us poxes of more various and serious types already..." I'm assuming that by "us" he means citizens of the United States that are of European decent. Well, if I'm remembering my history correctly didn't Europeans bring "poxes" upon the ancestors of current day Mexico?
