We know that Rush Limbaugh wants Obama to fail but now others are jumping on his wagon.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum wants Obama to fail.





Michelle Malkin wants Obama to fail.





Former House Majority Leader Tom Delay wants Obama to fail.





Of course, it was a different situation before Obama became president. Back when Bush was president, the right claimed it was wrong to undermine the president.

Remember when Sean Hannity took Democratic Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon to task about Blumenaur supposedly undermining the president?

"...And what I find frankly repugnant about you and some of your fellow Democrats – you have undermined our president, you have undermined our troops, you have undermined our war effort from day one and you’re doing it for the sinister reason of political gain..."

I'm still waiting for Hannity to openly claim that he finds Limbaugh, Santorum, Malkin, and Delay, to be repugnant for undermining our president. I'm sure it will happen soon.

Here is another quote:

"..Every American, including media people, should evaluate the president and form conclusions. That is our duty as citizens. But this hate stuff, this rooting for the administration to fail in Iraq and other areas is un-American, unbecoming, and unacceptable. Like him or not, Mr. Bush is the elected leader of this country and he deserves a fair hearing..."

Do you know who said that one? Bill O'Reilly. I'm waiting for him to stand up and chastise Limbaugh, Santorum, Malkin, and Delay, too. I mean, really...isn't their behavior of rooting for the administration to fail simply un-American, unbecoming, and unacceptable?

Earlier this year, The Daily Show pointed out the hypocrisy of many on the right. Maybe it is time to view that video again.



Let me be clear: this is about hypocrisy. I'm not saying it isn't right or valid to criticize the president or the U.S. government. Actually, I believe that dissent is perfectly patriotic. This is solely about the hypocritical stance that to criticize Bush was borderline traitorous, yet criticizing Obama is somehow fair game. I can't stand that kind of idiotic hypocrisy that certain behaviors are bad if the other guy does it, but it's perfectly acceptable when you engage in it.

In November of 2002, Limbaugh said the following:

"...There’s a very high likelihood we’re going to even face additional terrorist attacks ... No country is safe from this threat, not even us, no country is going to be perfect in its efforts to fight it. And Senator Daschle, you know this. Just as you know that you are hoping to benefit politically when our economy stagnates and people lose jobs, you are hoping to politically benefit with the next terrorist attack...."

My favorite part is the accusation of "hoping to benefit politically when our economy stagnates and people lose jobs". Isn't that exactly what Limbaugh is doing right now? Hasn't he referred to the recession as the "Obama recession" as early as the November 6 and November 11 broadcasts of his show...before Obama was even sworn into office. Isn't that the very definition of "hoping to benefit politically when our economy stagnates and people lose jobs"?

But I guess it's OK when the right does it. It's only shameful and bad when Democrats do it.
