Terror threats against gay bars in Seattle

Unfortunately, after writing the article on Violence on the rise against gays I then read a new story about an anti-gay terror campaign in Seattle.

Eleven gay bars in Seattle received letters today addressed to the "Owner/Manager" from someone claiming to be in the possession of ricin, a deadly poison. "Your establishment has been targeted," the letter begins. "I have in my possession approximately 67 grams of ricin with which I will indiscriminately target at least five of your clients."

The letter is...well, horrible. The writer outlines what he hopes the victims of ricin will feel:

Given the amount of exposure, I expect them to die painfully while in hospital. Doctors will initially mistake the symptoms for violent stomach flu; but organ failure occurring so quickly will make them think otherwise. Naturally, there is no antidote, no salve for their unimaginable pain. All I can say is the targets won't care much as they'll be dead and nearly frozen, just as, presumably, they didn't care that they were living...

There is absolutely no justification for this kind of evil. While I happen to be pro-LGBT rights, there are people and groups that I disagree with. I would never condone this kind of behavior towards them. Ever.

I hope the police catch this clown before he can harm or terrify anyone else.
