Comment Policy

Here are the very basic comment policies:

Comment spam will be deleted.

For instance, if you write the following and end it with a link, it will be deleted.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

The Modern Left has already received numerous versions of that particular one. Stop. You are wasting your time. It will be deleted.

Extreme trolling will be deleted.

We support free speech here. Simply disagreeing with views on The Modern Left will not get your comment deleted.

That being said, comments that are nothing more than overtly and purposely racist or homophobic will disappear.

Other than those simple guidelines comment away and have fun. Right now, we don't moderate comments. You write it, post it, and it appears. Should enough people violate these simple guidelines we might be forced to rethink our policy on moderation.

Tom Harper said...

Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" is an excellent history of this country. Our actual history, with no whitewashing or sugarcoating; all of our warts and blemishes are there to be seen. That's the way it should be. Every country has a dark side to its history, and people should be aware of it. Nobody benefits when people think their country's history is one giant squeaky clean Leave It To Beaver episode.
